With the support of Siemens, two independent research organizations
conducted a unique global research project on megacity challenges:
522 public- and private-sector experts from 25 global cities were
interviewed to gather objective data as well as perspectives from mayors,
city administrators and other experts on local infrastructure challenges.

The research project provides interesting insights and a useful picture
of how challenges are prioritized and what infrastructure solutions are
best able to improve the local economy, environment and quality of
life of megacities.

Some key results:

-Megacities prioritize economic competitiveness and employment
-Transport overtakes all other infrastructure concerns
-Better governance is a vital step towards better cities
-Environment matters, but may be sacrificed for growth
-Holistic solutions are desired, but are difficult to achieve
-Cities will seek to improve services, but could do more to manage demand
